Healing a wound needs attention
What I do know for sure though, is that wounds don’t heal without attention. Even when the body is healing a minor scratch, or a much deeper injury through cellular repair, something is propelling that process and it isn’t stagnation. The energy the body needs to heal a physical issue requires ingredients like nutrition, the removal of and protection from infection, medicinal manipulation through chemical intake or application, something to help mend the problem.
It is the same with an emotional or psychological injury. Wounds that occur to our psyche, personality, development, attachment, our learning and connection need attention. They don’t heal by themselves and they don’t automatically resolve through disinterest and denial.
Counselling and the NDIS
Becoming an NDIS provider was something I considered immediately as a way to be able to participate in the system and be able to reach those most in need who wouldn’t have to pay for Counselling. Unfortunately, as a still unregulated profession, unlike Psychology, Counselling is not included as a healthcare service covered by Medicare.
Ethical Service Promotion
I networked with potential referral points and continue to find ways to connect with other people and entities that are like minded and want to provide a secure, safe, inclusive, accessible, ethical, intersectional and diverse community that simply cares for the wellbeing of other human beings at a time when the most powerful elements of our world and communities serve themselves and their own interests first, at the expense of the most vulnerable who need it most.
I don’t have all the answers when it comes to supporting people experiencing difficulty in their lives, but that’s the point of my client lead and person centered practice. I know the answers come from within and my job is to help my clients find their own. Their own solutions, understanding, meaning and their own voice.
