Counselling and the NDIS
Becoming an NDIS provider was something I considered immediately as a way to be able to participate in the system and be able to reach those most in need who wouldn’t have to pay for Counselling. Unfortunately, as a still unregulated profession, unlike Psychology, Counselling is not included as a healthcare service covered by Medicare.
Burnout
When burnout symptoms occur, it doesn’t mean that you should make dramatic decisions that completely reconfigure your life. Sometimes that is necessary and useful too. Other times, you might only need to shift your perspective, set some boundaries and make some straightforward choices that can have long term effects and make a significant improvement to your life.
Counselling Options
At the moment, there are many options for people to access therapy and support, and it is becoming increasingly more available to choose a pathway that suits your needs. It is useful to understand what your choices are and to be able to access resources that facilitate making informed decisions about what services to access that are accommodating and accessible to you personally.
Recovery from Crisis Events
For most people, turning to their loved ones for support is the most natural thing to do. Ideally, we have kin and community that can provide support and solace, especially if they themselves are going through the crisis alongside us. Tragedy can unite people, bringing out the best in human qualities as a survival mechanism, like care taking, listening, commiserating and empathising.
Sometimes though, there can be a saturation. When a tragic event occurs, and the people around us are themselves in a state of shock or trauma, leaking sorrow onto one another only exacerbates the situation, causing more harm and prolonging the recovery period.
